A unique and holistic approach
I offer therapy that is warm, friendly and down to earth. I use skills and techniques which have been shown to be effective through scientific research, client experience and personal practice. The foundation of my counselling is person centred therapy, through which I offer empathic understanding, acceptance and congruence (being real). I have found that this enables my clients to find emotional safety, kindness towards themselves and the freedom to explore their issues in a constructive and helpful way.
As well as person centred therapy, a core part of many of my sessions is emotional freedom techniques (EFT). This is part of a new wave of therapies which have been shown to provide effective and lasting relief for psychological distress, including emotional trauma. Trauma can be from life threatening events or from relationships and each can have a huge impact on our ability to thrive. EFT can help with both, freeing us from the emotional stress associated with past events. It helps many of my clients to access increased emotional wellbeing and improve their relationships at work and/ or home . Through my work as a respiratory specialist physiotherapist I discovered the link between the way people breathe and their emotions. I therefore offer breathing retraining as part of my therapeutic practice. I teach you how to breathe in a more efficient relaxed way so that you can help reduce anxiety or panic and bring about an experience of calm.
